The Story of the Hatfields and McCoys in the Tug River Valley
The Hatfields and McCoy's moved to the Tug River Valley in eastern Kentucky. They set up farms but soon got into trouble for cutting down their neighbor's trees. One son alienated most of his family by trying the timber business instead of just sticking to farming. That left his 13 children in tough situations. But two escaped that fate when they married young ladies who inherited land from their fathers.
