Julian's Conception of the Scheme of Reincarnation

Julian's reading of mythology is standard Neopatonic, Porphyrian allegorical reading. He would say Dionysus and Heracles were actually philosopher kings who were entirely pure. And so he saw that Romulus was this type of figure as well. Most of his knowledge of Roman history comes through Greek sources.
