This is an instance where just asking the question sort of tells you what the answer is going to be. It's just typical of New York Times, right? They're coy about a lot of editorial choices,. But so long as they maintain this kind of view from 30,000 feet reporter voice, they can play stupid and say we didn't mean to do that.
