It's the spring boot is pretty great at giving the framework developer cues without even requiring annotations all the time. So you have to opt in. Like if you want to override the call behavior, then you say at-neighful batch processing. But the problem is we had that there for so long that now, and the default behavior used to be you have to have at-neigborhood batch processing. Otherwise the spring boot started didn't work. In 3.0, spring boot 3 and batch 5, they just flipped it. Now you're disabling the default starter, but it means that everything you did before broke.
