If you're going to be aggressive and it's a personality thing on the receiving end, if someone came into my office to demand an increase, I'm not sure how I would react. If there was a job offer on the table and it was a bonafide job offer, then I'd want to discuss what in fact is being asked. And as we mentioned earlier with the labor shortage, it is in a company's best interest to do everything they can within reason to retain their best and brightest.
