The Role of the American Public in Supporting Veterans and Troops
Black veterans were openly disrespected in the communities they came back to. They were on the wrong side of the GI Bill policy by and large. There's at least a dozen black or two veterans who are murdered, some also wearing their military uniforms. These black veterans were going to be leaders in the civil rights movement after the war. But the kind of treatment these black veterans received was not fitting of their service.
