The Russian Invasion of Ukraine Isn't an Imperial War
Putin's account of the history of Russian Ukraine which he gives in July of 2021 tells you that what happens today is predetermined by things that happened a thousand years ago. It's imperial in the classic sense of denying that the people you encounter are people instead they're a tribe or a clan or they're corrupt or whatever. The idea that Russia is not the aggressor but it is the victim of conspiracies and therefore it must attack Ukraine is literally what Hitler said about the Soviet Union Putin says the same thing about Ukraine.
