The Role of Phosphorithine in Enzymes

Life at all levels uses phosphopantithine as a cofactor for our enzymes. And we also convert that to coenzyme A, which is called 4-phosphothenic acid. In the last two episodes in this series on niacin, and if you listened to the one before on riboflavin, we talked about how niacin is often carrying energy between different pathways. Niacin shuttles these pieces of molecules when you break them apart, but CoA breaks them down into 2-carbon acetyl units.
