Don't Ask for Funding Until You Have Data
If you're not making 50 to a hundred thousand dollars a year on your business in terms of revenue yet, and you're not profitable, then keep going. Don't seek out funding until you have enough data to prove to the person you're asking for money from. The easiest way to pitch is with data. The numbers don't lie. And if the numbers are in your favor, it's going to get easier and easier for you to get money.
