The Letters Written by St. Ignatius of Antioch
St. Ignatius of Antioch was a bishop who envisioned the office that he held as one having powerful authority. In Letters Written, very roughly speaking in the decades between 70 and 130 CE, Ignatius' dates are uncertain. He wrote many descriptions of bishops as representatives of God on earth and authorities who must not be questioned.
