Web workers can handle streaming large file down loads, adding the ability to abort. A web worker is like a data base in the browser, kind of like local storage, but much more powerful. Web workers are also used for testing sites without serverside rendering. They allow you to save and access files from both browsers at once.
In this episode of Syntax, Wes and Scott talk through the fundamentals of web workers and service workers - examples, when you should use them, how to debug, local dev, and more.
