If you purchase I bonds before the end of April, you can still snag that basically it's a 6.9% rate. That blended rate is going to likely make I bonds less attractive than savings and even CDs. If you don't hold them for at least five years, you're going to forfeit the most recent three months of interest. So if you stuck 10 grand in, you're seeing that close to 11 grand now over just the past 12 months.
