The first thing you need is a goal. So what am I trying to achieve? You'd be surprised how few people actually really understand what the goal is of the campaign. There needs to be a strategy, so what's the strategy I'm going to use to achieve that outcome? And then you need to just build your plan and track your performance against that plan over time at a very, very high level.
