The Minneapolis Poem
The poet hated minneapolis, but it didn't matter to me. What mattered to me was inding recognizing something about these locals and these sorts of people i knew. He read a poem by a poliner he had recently translated, la joli ruse its, translated as the pretty redhead. And he got to a line in that poem, i hope i don't bungle it. All we want is kindness enormous, where everything is silent. Nobody laughed. They all knew he meant it.
