The NGO's Influence on Resistance Politics

CNN's John Defterios talks to CNN iReport about the NGO phenomenon in Georgia. He says NGOs fill a vacuum created by retreating state, but their real contribution is that they diffuse political anger and dull out as aid or benevolence what people ought to have by right. In India, for instance, the funded NGO boom began in the late 1980s and 1990s. It coincided with the opening of India's markets to neoliberalism. They turn people into dependent victims and blunt the edges of political resistance.
