The US Government's Policy Toward Islamist Parties for the Better Part of the Next 30 Years
Most of the failed states in the region, which are a lot of states, were brought down, at least in part, if not totally, by the involvement interference or violence of the islamists. The united States government's policy towards islamist parties for the better part of the next 30 years contains within it this idea that they don't genuinely believe in democratic norms. Rather, they've instrumentally adopted democratic methods in order to get into power. And once they do, they will dismantle democracy in order to make sure that they can never be voted out of power.
