Debugging a Deaf Environment

A lot of the work i've done is building out like the devops environment for teams that i'm not part of. And so that's where i got into the habit of including the data base in the doctor compose files. Those developers are typically full time employees of that company, not working on any other projects. So it just eliminates a step that they need to complete whenever they get on boarded. When are you setting up a def environment for any project like this? What operating system do you target?
