The Impact of the War in Ukraine on Agriculture
The war in ukraine has high lighted the critical role a lot of ukranian workers play in the agricultural economies of western europe. Ukraine provides, or provided, nearly ten % of the world's weight and around the same in corn and even more in sunflower oil. Around a month ago, a crucial deal was struck between russia and ukraine to allow ucranian grain shipments to resume. So far, the agreement seems to be working, with 33 cargo ships leaving ukrainian ports carrying around 719 thousand tons of food stuffs.
