Ibn Watlid and His Men Scaled the Walls and Attacked Damascus
A disgruntled Roman civilian within Damascus met with called it Ibn Watlid. He told him of an upcoming holiday in which most of the men in Damascus would participate and get drunk including the soldiers. This would give call it Ibn Wat lid his best opportunity to scale the walls and attack Damascus while most of the soldiers were inebriated. On the night of the celebration, called Ibn Watlid and several hundreds of his soldiers scaled the walls of Damascus and immediately attacked the few soldiers who were not participating in the festivities.
