The Loonar Race Could Be Geopolitics
The moon is kind of like a time capsule. It doesn't really have a magnetic field so it doesn't repel high energy particles emitted by the sun. These end up getting buried under the loonar surface. And if you can put radio telescopes on the far side of the moon, the part facing away from the earth, it could be a clear window into deep space.
