The Battle of Sankshak
Kheema was effectively undefended at the end of March, early April 1941. No thought was given to its defense because no one had thought that it was at risk. Japanese advance through hills and a number of columns held up at Sankshak for about four days. A considerable number of soldiers died in this extraordinary battle against a very raw, green, two battalion Indian parachute brigade.
