The Evolution of Emotions

Emotions can be thought of as superordinate or controlling cognitive programs that help to coordinate and guide cognition and behavior in response to particular adaptive challenges. So fear and sexual jealousy, for example, are both negative emotions. But they have very different purposes and are associated with very distinct cognitive and behavioral profiles. And so I was focused primarily on the emotion of anger.
