The Different Rationales for Going to College
Roxanne Jones: I use frames to explain how different groups interpret the transition from high school to college. She says there's overlap between social classes when it comes to rationales for why they should go to college. But low-income students are more deliberate in their decision making, she says. The academic evaluation rationale is a key factor that determines whether or not you're going to get into college and what kind of grades you'll get on your application.Jones: Middle class students already assume that they're going to go to college but have to think about other aspects before committing.
