Is the Fed Going to Stop Raising Interest Rates?
I think that the US is going into recession and as China opens up and you have commodity prices rising and financial conditions easing, it's not what the Fed wants to see. So I think they're going to keep talking pretty tough. And every time Powell opens his mouth and talks tough, we have a pretty major selloff. The main factor that's been driving this sort of rally in this bear market rally so far is investors hoping that the Fed will stop raising interest rates soon. If you can believe that during this bear market, the VIX was actually so volatile and trending down that I don't see how you could make any money on the VIX.
