The Importance of Innovation in the 1970s
In the 1960s and into the 70s, innovation became kind of a stand-in for the word progress. But that shift has consequences because progress wasn't just about material goods; it was also about moral improvement. So you can think of like the civil rights movement as progress, whereas innovation is a much more narrowly economic term.
