The Problem With Etiquette Style Signaling

Adelson: We live in an unequal society that is we live in an in a egalitarian society a racist society, sexist society and homophobic society. And now suppose that that's our backdrop and I want to signal to you that I treat you as an equal then there's something funny going on which is that I have to be signaling  that I'm an exception right. Adelson: The problem like Adelson treats this this topic as though it were squarely inside of the etiquette of etiquette style signaling but I think it's really caught between etiquette style signaling and shibbole style signaling.
