Historically in Turkey when there is an event of this nature, have people tended to blame the government and to vote out the person in charge? This earthquake is a tragedy in which untold numbers of lives will be lost. And then on top of that, Richard Taip Erdogan is facing an election in May. So there's almost certain to be a backlash.
Turkey is digging itself out from the devastating earthquake that has killed thousands across the country. Recovery efforts have been more difficult in northwest Syria, where civil war means there’s no unified response to the crisis.
