The Importance of Peer Review in Academic Publishing

Peer review is a mechanism of basically saying like, do not do obviously wrong things. And completely fails at a mechanism of making people do important things and doing actually impressive things. So you get the situation where you're trying to replicate the quality of results with lower quality people. To me, the root of this is just like expansion to people who don't have the talent or the or the consciousness. That's why they have these standards that are different from the rest of the world.
