Diaz's Expedition to the Cape of Good Hope

Diaz would eventually come to the southernmost tip of Africa, the Cape of Good Hope. The Portuguese now knew that they could sail around Africa and open a direct trade route to Asia. Diaz's voyage would be hailed in Portugal, but King John was reportedly disappointed that Diaz had not pressed his fleet further.
