Variable Bypass Vaporizer for Desflurane
Desflurane has its own special type of vaporizer. Why not use a variable bypass vaporizer? The answer is that desfloring is too unstable because its vapor pressure is close to atmospheric pressure. Once it started boiling, we wouldn't be able to control how much we were delivering. A small swing in temperature of the room or pressure could cause it to boil.
