Sally ryde was chosen to fly first in the astronaut corps. Now it is very rare that a space shuttle goes up without at least one woman on board. With eileen collins now commanding her cond space shuttle flight, you know, it really just shows how important women have become within not just the astronaut cor but the space program in general.
