When Genesis started off as a lending business, it was fairly easy to generate good returns on crypto assets that were otherwise sort of sitting there. There's not a natural sort of built-in protocol yield for Bitcoin. So in the early days, people were more than willing to sort of source that from Genesis and borrow it either to go short or to work and make with it.
