The Pros and Cons of the Articles of Confederation

Under the articles of Confederation, the Continental Congress was able to pass one very successful law. The Northwest Ordinance decided what we were going to do with the land that we had acquired through the Treaty of Paris at the conclusion of the American Revolution. If a new territory abides by these rules, it can apply to become a state. But once they went through that process, they were able to have equal rights and representation in the government as the original 13 states.
