The History of the Emancipation Proclamation

Most americans are taught that the north went to war to liberate the slat of the slaves of the south, to end slavery. That's the rough narrative that i got going to the public school in tennessee. I would say roughly that there was slavery in the south, not in the north. There was some type of moral divide, roughly between the two, and that abraham lincoln was the hero that yo know, the emancipation proclamation,. i think that was like, and again, i'm not recalling these facts a chronologically as there may be taught in school but just the general thesis of the narrative s at the emancipation proclamation.
