The Difference Between Algorithms and Models in Machine Learning
An algorithm is a set of steps that describes how a computer should process data in order to obtain a desired result. For machine learning, the algorithm tells the computer how to learn from data and then it produces a model. So you can have one algorithm and produce many models. And we tell people, do not confuse models with algorithms. The algorithms provide the recipe or the formula to generate and apply learning, but the model provides the specific learning that the algorithm has done for this particular task.
