China and Cuba have reached a secret agreement for China to establish an electronic eavesdropping facility on the island in a brand new geopolitical challenge by Beijing to the US. An eavesdropping facility in Cuba, roughly 100 miles from Florida would allow Chinese intelligence services to scoop up electronic communications throughout the southeastern United States where many military bases are located. Officials familiar with the matter said that China had agreed to pay cash strapped Cuba several billion dollars to allow it to build the eavesdropping station.
