The Connection Between Electricity and Magnetism
Electricity and magnetism are inherently linked because of what materials are made out of at their very, very tiniest scale. And it's the spins of these tiny electrons inside these materials that is what can cause magnetism. So to separate out materials like aluminium that aren't magnetic, they use an eddy current separator. This creates a sort of temporary attraction of the aluminium to the separator then takes it off for recycling.
