I think Lewis in peri Landra was attempting something like, how do you write about the temptation of an innocent creature in a way that he considered to be more sophisticated than Milton? And it's not until halfway through the book that you get to any other characters that you remember from the first two. There is a very strange book. You've got all these different intertwining plots and you're jumping around between people and there's so many characters. Compared to the first two books are very linear and they have a very limited scope of characters in comparison to the third one.
