i think that what you see now, and i was grumpy about this on twitter, but i think it's like, the perfect example is, well, obama has pushed back his sixtieth birthday party because of covid. And who needs to know that what are the type of people who would care about that? Is there any violable, long term solution to all these problems that doesn't involve news being treated like the public good that it is? Does the news have to be subsidized on some level? Do we need rethink the legal and tax status of news organizations in a way that acknowledges their unique role in a democracy? Or is that just not doable?
