The Conscious Choice to Be an IC

When you say director level, but an IC, is that something you made a conscious choice about? Because you prefer to be an IC. Yeah, so I rolled into Google, and I probably managed people at almost every job I've had in the last maybe eight or nine years prior. And when I got to Google, this concept of the distinguished engineer and some of the fellows, and just watching those people, if you only have to manage one person, then you get to focus on some of the big picture stuff.
