I had an 80 page Bible explaining all of these characters backstories and what drives them. So I do think that my brain was probably a little less wired towards traditional journalism than other people's brains. My editors were even kind of encouraging me to write parts of the stories like a screenplay, particularly the parts of the story where like the law was closing in on her and she and Billy like hit the road in an RV.
