Hamlet's Secret

Karlpolani served on the russian front and meditated on hamlet until 19 17. For many years, the memory of those bleak months haunted me. I knew why he did not kill the king. He is unable to decide to live. To obey his father's behest would involve all that living involves. Hamlet knows in his bones that he will never comply. His refusal springs from his dread of becoming part of a world he has learned to detest with all his being.
