The Myth of Tube Shelter
You are seeing attempts by the both extremes of politics to use tube shelter for their own thoroughly unpleasant defeaters. Most disgusting in the case of the CPGB, who are basically allied to Nazi Germany at this point. So you've got both political extremes. And that's the problem with happens when tube-shopping happens. I think the first major bombing, about September 10, could be a big air raid. Then you get the forcing of the gates at Liverpool Street. Well, what causes the change? If the official policy is not to shelter, what would they call squatters? What were they called? Squatters? The official? On various other insults.
