How Do You Design a SIM That Tests a Patient?

The best way to design something is to understand how people work, which we often just whiz right by in medicine. We rarely spend time in a problem space and this is sort of coming from the design thinking models that have come out of IDO and Stanford. The learnings that come from that then inform future designs. And once you understand the problems, then you can start to run simulations. So for example, when we were building the trauma bay a few years ago at St. Mike's, we watched, we did unannounced trauma and situ simulations  to observe how that all plays out.
