Ithaca undergrads studied 470 half hour television programs commonly watched by children. 96 percent of all children's programming includes verbal insults and put downs, averaging seven point seven put downs per half hour episode. Even the ones that were considered pro social still have 66 percent containing insults. One of them is from sponge prob square pants, and it says, how do you sleep at night knowing you're a complete failure?
Where did you learn how to handle conflict? What did you learn about how to handle conflict from your parents, classmates, books, or shows? What happens if, what you have learned didn't include how to handle conflict in a healthy way? By the end of this episode with my wife, Anna McKeown, you'll be better equipped to not only handle conflict but also help other people, including the people you lead at work, your children, and family members to do it too.
