Is There a Connection Between Optics and the Jesuits?

Fameer painted an allegory of Catholic faith a painting now in Metropolitan Museum which will also be lent to the exhibition in Amsterdam. On this painting we have a globe a glass globe hanging at the ribbon from the ceiling and this is a symbol of the Jesuits that this globe mirrors more than it can be hold. There must be a connection of his thinking about optics and the Jesuit literature. If you take that extension of light meaning divine light then all of his works are then filled with this divine light they are acts of faith.
