Conciliarism and the Church of God
A general council of the church assembled in Constance in Switzerland and got to work. By the time the council got to it, there were three different popes. None of them wanted to step down. The council elected a new pope, Martin V, in 1417. This moment was effectively the high watermark of the whole conciliar movement.
