The Effects of De-Ice on Flight 90

The freezing temperatures at Washington National Airport had reached 24 degrees and snow was falling heavily. Flight 90 was de-iced with heated water followed by a finish of anti-ice coat of monopropylene glycol. The aircraft needed to be de-iced to clear the wings of snow and ice so that they could get lift from the wings.
