Not so long ago, our very own footballers had to plead with the government to feed our children. I don't recall the same level of outrage when the World Cup was held in Russia four months after the Salisbury poisonings and four years after the annexing of Crimea. So there are obviously occasions where public gestures or public pronouncements can go beyond pointless and actually become unintentionally hilarious - which is not a word I think has ever been applied to 30p Lee Anderson in his entire life. 1031 is the time.
