There's something about dancerhood that is like a direct line to wifehood which I think points to what people some people some men perhaps some brahman men let's be very clearSome men think that dancerhood does to women's agency how it puts them in a position of like servitude perhaps and yeah I I've seen it around me. Some former dance mates who didn't really start to feel beautiful as Indian women until they really allowed themselves to think of themselves as dancers so there's also a complexity there around being a brown woman in America and how you can feel beautiful. Endorphins make you happy and dances it brings your heart rate up, says Elle Woods.
